Monarch FC team bus involved in ghastly accident

A bus carrying approximately 60 children and officials from Ada-based Monarch Football Club was involved in a serious accident early on Saturday morning, August 24, 2024, in Kwahu, Eastern Region, Starr FM has reported.

The team was returning from a weeklong football tournament in Obo Kwahu, which included 32 participating teams.

The incident occurred around 3:30 AM as the bus descended the Kwahu Mountain towards Nkawkaw.

According to reports from survivors, the bus's brakes failed, causing the vehicle to sway uncontrollably before ultimately overturning.

A survivor, who was among those transported to the hospital, described the situation to Agoo FM.

“We came to participate in the 32-club tournament at Kwahu Obo and were heading back to Ada. The bus started swaying from left to right until it eventually overturned. Our team is called Monarch.”

Emergency response teams, including the fire service and police, arrived promptly at the scene to assist the injured and recover the bodies of those who were presumed deceased.
