Newly-appointed Hearts of Oak head coach, Martin Koopman has been served with a defeat in his first official match in Ghana.
The Phobians appointed the experienced tactician in the off-season to come in and build a strong team for the Ghanaian giants.
In the last few weeks, he has had the opportunity to train a big squad and played several friendly matches as part of preparations for the 2023/24 football season.
Today, coach Martin Koopman was on the touchline when Hearts of Oak played their first match of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
In a game played at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, the gaffer fielded a strong team in a bid to get a win.
Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for Coach Martin Koopman.
His team played well throughout the 90 minutes despite the strong opposition. In the end, a solitary goal from Owusu Afriyie handed Coach Koopman and his Hearts of Oak side a narrow 1-0 defeat.
The gaffer and his team will return to Accra on Saturday to prepare for Week 2 of the new Ghana Premier League season.
