In a thrilling lead-up to the 34th edition of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, the spotlight is set to shine on Egypt's Amin Mohamed Omar as he steps onto the field to officiate the opening match between host nation Cote d'Ivoire and Guinea Bissau.

The announcement made just 24 hours before the highly anticipated kick-off at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Ebimpé, reveals the experienced 39-year-old referee as the chosen referee of fair play for this pivotal encounter.

Amin Mohamed Omar, a familiar name in international football circles, brings a wealth of experience to this prestigious event. Having previously showcased his officiating prowess during the FIFA™ U-17 World Cup in Brazil in 2019, Omar has proven his mettle on the grandest stages of the sport. Now, he is entrusted with maintaining the integrity of the game in one of the most electrifying tournaments on the African continent.

Adding to the Egyptian's support system are compatriots Mahmoud Ahmed Kamel and Ahmed Hossam Taha, who will stand alongside him as the assistant referees.
