Kwesi Appiah, head coach of Sudan, recently spoke with FIFA about his coaching journey and his success in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Appiah, who took the helm in September 2023 while also serving as Technical Director of Asante Kotoko, has steered Sudan to the top of Group B in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, with 10 points from four games, surpassing group favorites Senegal.

Appiah shared his coaching philosophy with FIFA, stating, "This profession requires patience and careful attention to even the smallest details. And my opportunity came at just the right time."

He also expressed his pride in the achievements of his contemporaries, particularly Aliou Cisse of Senegal. "I’m happy that I’m no longer the only one to have done this," Appiah said.

"When I contemplate the achievements of my colleague Aliou Cisse with Senegal, it makes me really proud. Others will come after us and accomplish more."

Sudan will take on Niger in the AFCON Qualifiers on September 4th.
