We are incredibly disappointed with the defeat to Cape Verde – Chris Hughton

Head coach of Ghana, Chris Hughton has expressed disappointment to the defeat to Cape Verde.

The Black Stars of Ghana on Sunday night locked horns with Cape Verde in a Group B encounter at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

At the end of 90 minutes, the Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to the opponent with defender Alexander Djiku netting the only consolation goal for Ghana.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Ghana coach Chris Hughton apologised to Ghanaians, adding that the entire team is disappointed.

“We are incredibly disappointed with the result. We came into the game with a game plan. We changed the system a bit so we can start on the front foot. We are hugely disappointed with the result. It’s a defeat we are hugely disappointed in,” Chris Hughton said.

After the defeat to Cape Verde, the Black Stars will now prepare for the second Group B game against Egypt.

That match will be played on Thursday, January 18.
