We must not solely focus on Andre Ayew’s playing time in Black Stars; his presence can be influential – Stephen Appiah

Ghana great, Stephen Appiah has indicated that he still believes Andre Ayew has a role to play for the Black Stars.

According to him, the presence of the captain in the camp of the team alone can be influential.

"In my observation during the AFCON, for instance, Max Gradel, at 37, was a key figure for the Ivory Coast team. Age should not be the sole determinant. If a player is 38 to 40 and still delivering, why not?

"From what I have observed, I believe he has proven his worth. While the Ayew we saw in 2010 may have evolved, his recent exploits, particularly with his club, speak volumes," Stephen Appiah told 3Sports in an interview.

The former Ghana captain continued, "We shouldn't solely focus on Ayew's playing time. His presence alone can be influential. I believe he still has a role to play, whether it's on or off the pitch.”

Although Andre Ayew is not part of the latest Black Stars squad assembled for the Mali and Central African Republic matches, Coach Otto Addo has indicated that he will have his chance in subsequent assignments.
