Black Queens head coach, Nora Hauptle has indicated that she is keen on improving the side for the team to get back to a level where qualification to the FIFA Women’s World Cup will be possible.

The Black Queens lost their place as a powerhouse of women's football in the continent in the past decade.

However, following the appointment of coach Nora Hauptle, the Black Queens are improving by the day.

According to the gaffer, the aim is to reclaim the top spot on the rankings of women’s football in Africa.

“Our mission is to get back to number one in Africa because in previous women’s tournaments, the Black Queens have been very successful as seen in 1999, 2003, and 2007. The team qualified to the World Cup at some point and we want to bring ourselves back to this level,” Coach Nora Hauptle said ahead of the friendly match with Japan this weekend.

She continued, "We are back in the Women’s African Cup of Nations, a huge achievement and as a team it is important to measure us against the top ten teams in the world.”

The match against Japan will be played on Saturday at the Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium.
