Ghana forward Jordan Ayew has highlighted the importance of Leicester City’s resounding win over Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old forward scored and delivered an assist as the Foxes progressed to the third round of the EFL Cup with a 4-0 win.

Ayew, who joined the Foxes in the summer transfer window was making only his second appearance for the club, who had drawn and lost in their opening two Premier League matches.

Leicester will welcome Aston Villa, Ayew's former club, to the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

And Ayew says his outfit resounding win over Tranmere will boost their confidence for the highly competitive fixture this weekend.

“I’m really happy. The cloud was good to me so it was important for us to win because we haven’t won since the start of the season. I think we played well, we won and scored goals. The win is good for confidence for Saturday’s big game for us”

The 32-year-old Ghanaian forward will be hoping to excel for Leicester City this season. He has managed one goal and one assists in two games across competitions.
