Diogo Costa, a goalkeeper for the Portuguese national team, said that his error in the game in which the Moroccan team scored the winning goal in the World Cup Qatar quarterfinals was a "big lesson" for him.
He confirmed in a post on Instagram on Monday evening that Portugal had "ambition to win the World Cup" and that "despite the exclusion, the players leave with the certainty that they gave everything on the field."
Diogo Costa jumped late and collided with his teammate Robin Diaz, allowing Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri to rise early and score the winning goal.
"Nobody wants to make mistakes," said the Porto goalkeeper. "When they happen, it's a big lesson and daily development."
Diogo Costa has received messages of support and motivation from his club and national teammates.
