In a thrilling showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium, Young Apostles clinched promotion to the Ghana Premier League by overcoming Techiman Heroes in a dramatic penalty shootout.

The play-off match ended 1-1 in regular and extra time, forcing the teams into the nail-biting decider with a lot of punters going for the game just as they would to bet on cricket online on various platforms.

Suleman Yahaya Abu emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive penalty that secured a 4-3 shootout victory for the Young Apostles.

The match saw Techiman Heroes initially taking the lead in the shootout as the Young Apostles missed two spot-kicks.

However, the tide turned when Emmanuel Owusu and Ebenezer Agyapong missed their penalties for Techiman Heroes.

The final twist came when Mathew Amponsah of Techiman Heroes missed his penalty, setting the stage for Abu to seal the victory.

Young Apostles, will join the Ghana Premier League for the 2024/25 season, making them the fifth team from the Bono Ahafo region to reach the top tier.

Despite the loss, Techiman Heroes had numerous opportunities during the 120 minutes of play but could not capitalize on them.

Vision FC from Zone 3 has also secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League, with Zone 2's representative yet to be decided.
