2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Our only objective is to win the trophy in Ivory Coast - Georges-Kévin Nkoudou

Georges-Kévin Nkoudou, the winger of the Cameroon national football team, has laid out the sole objective for his squad in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) hosted in Ivory Coast – to clinch the trophy.

Despite being considered underdogs, with the Indomitable Lions not being touted as favorites for the competition, Nkoudou radiates confidence in their pursuit of glory.

Cameroon, boasting a rich history with five-time victories in the Confederation of African Football (CAN), plans to leverage its underdog status as a strategic advantage, echoing the unexpected triumph it secured in 2017.

Nkoudou's ambitions were emphatically expressed during an exclusive interview with the FECAFOOT media, conducted within the intense training camp where the Lions are honing their skills and strategies for the challenging campaign ahead.

“I want to win it, especially in Ivory Coast to rewrite history. We are Cameroon and we must wear this jersey with pride, honor, and give our best on the pitch. There is no A + B, we have to go and win it, that’s our only objective," he said.

"We have a very good group and very good individuals. We have everything we need to get to the end. It’s true that when I hear that we cite the favorites and we don’t include Cameroon, it’s even good like that (smile).

"Because that’s how dangerous we are. For those who think that Cameroon will not go far, we must be careful,”
