Published on: 12 January 2024

Angola's national football squad is preparing for a tough showdown against Algeria in their opening Group D match at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

As the anticipation builds, Angola's coach, Pedro Gonçalves, stresses the pivotal role that total concentration will play in confronting the football powerhouse that is Algeria.

With the match scheduled for January 15, Gonçalves is acutely aware of the magnitude of the challenge that awaits his team. Algeria, a team renowned for its football prowess and historical achievements, poses a formidable obstacle in Angola's quest for success in the tournament.

“We are more coherent, our unity is greater and greater. On the other hand, during the training course, we also had two preparation matches, which also allowed us to allow all the players to play. At the end of the day, all players matter,” he said.

"Now you have to concentrate absolutely. This was already the case, but now it is even more crucial as we enter the final phase of preparation for the match against Algeria. We know he is a formidable adversary; the results speak for themselves. Algeria's sporting potential speaks for itself, as does its investment. So, we must be strong, focused, courageous for what awaits us,” he added.
