AshantiGold SC fans plead with GFA to lift suspension on club

Some section of AshantiGold Soccer Club fans have appealed to the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ease the suspension placed on the club.

The fans travelled from Obuasi to the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram to make their appeal to the GFA ahead of the 30th Ordinary Congress.

The former Ghana Premier League champions have been suspended since 2023 following their involvement in a match-fixing scandal in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

The Miners were served with a suspension notice following match-fixing allegations in their game against Inter Allies with the former being demoted to the lower division of Ghana football.

The relegation was among other punishments meted out to the involved parties with some eventually going to see their verdict overturned.

However, AshGold's decision has dragged on with fans now appealing to the country's governing body to lift the suspension.

Should the GFA reverse the suspension of the club, Ashanti Gold will compete in the second division which was the club’s punishment for dealing with the banned officials aforementioned prior to the suspension.
