Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has eulogized Ghanaian Thomas Partey as one of the best midfielders in the English Premier League.
The Black Stars midfielder starred for the Gunners when the Gunners inflicted a 2-0 away win against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Partey scored against the Argentine shot stopper at Villa Park to propel the Gunners to victory in the week 2 clash.
Martinez' made a costly error, letting Partey’s shot slip through his fingers and giving Arsenal a crucial two-goal lead.
Leandro Trossard made an immediate impact as a substitute, scoring with his first touch to put Arsenal ahead.
The Ghanaian midfielder sealed the win with a goal ten minutes later, making it a sweet victory after Villa’s double over Arsenal last season.
“Tried my best to save it. I didn't know it was a shot from Partey until I raised my head after the ball went in. He's one of the best midfielders in the league." He said in an interview.
It was Partey’s first Premier League goal since March 2023, and he’ll be eager to add more in upcoming matches.
The former Atletico Madrid star struggled last season after being limited to few games due to injury setbacks.
