Anita Wiredu-Minta, the assistant coach of the Black Princesses, has encouraged female footballers to seize the abundant opportunities available in the sport even after they hang up their boots.
In an exclusive interview with GFA Communications, Wiredu-Minta emphasized that a player's journey in football does not end when they stop playing competitively.
Wiredu-Minta highlighted the plethora of roles within the game, not limited to coaching, that women can pursue. However, she stressed that aspiring female coaches must be resilient and focused, given the male-dominated nature of the sport.
"My message to my female players is that, it’s never over when you stop playing football. There are more opportunities in the game and not just coaching but if they want to be coaches, they have to be tough and very focused because we are in a man’s world," she said.
"They need to widen their knowledge space, learn and acquire more understanding about the game and I feel they can overcome any challenge that comes their way. You don’t need to feel you are competing with the men but rather learn from them because they started the game before us. Keep your confidence high and be alert and you can reach any height you set your eyes on," she added.
