GHALCA tournament opportunity for all players to prove themselves – Nations FC Coach Kassim Mingle

Nations FC head coach, Kassim Ocansey Mingle, has revealed that he is using the GHALCA 2024 Tournament to let his players prove themselves ahead of the resumption of the new season next month.

He said this after a 2-0 defeat to his former team Bechem United on Sunday in their second game of the competition.

Mingle justified his decision by citing starting only one player against Bechem United from their game against Medeama in their first game of the competition.

Despite the defeat, the experienced coach said, “I'm very impressed with the performance, and there's more room for improvement. You know, it's pre-season, so you have to give everybody a chance to play.

“That's exactly what we're doing. For instance, in the game against Medeama, only one player who played today was in the starting lineup; the rest were not.

“We want everyone to have an equal chance to prove themselves. You can determine your first team through this competition.

“Pre-season allows you to identify your first-choice players, but you also need to assess the bench. You have to give players the chance to play and evaluate who can support the regular players.”
