Austria international of Ghanaian descent Kevin Danso is set to join Italian giants AS Roma from RC Lens in the ongoing transfer window, Footballghana.com can report.

Danso has been outstanding for Lens in France since joining the club in summer 2021 from Bundesliga club, Augsburg. His swashbuckling performance for club and country last season caught the attention of several clubs.

However, the highly-rated defender is said to have agreed to join Roma this window. He will join on an initial loan dal before making the deal permanent for a fee around 22m Euros plus add-ons.

The 25-year-old highly-profiled defender will travel to Rome for medicals before he puts pen to paper for the Giallorossi, who are keen to strengthen their defense after a sloppy start to the new season.

His departure from Lens will be a huge blow, having established himself as a key cog to the squad in recent years.

Since joining Lens in 2021, the Austrian-Ghanaian towering guardsman has made 97 appearances in the French Ligue 1.

He played a pivotal role as the club made a return to the UEFA Champions League last season.

This season, the strong centre-back has already made two appearances in Ligue 1 for the Red and Yellows.
