Norwich City midfielder Forson Amankwah has been left out of the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Angola and Niger next month due to an injury setback.

Amankwah, who recently secured a move to England was initially named in Otto Addo’s squad which will be released on Thursday afternoon.

Unfortunately, the young Ghanaian midfielder has been dropped following an injury setback during Norwich City's EFL Cup clash against Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

The former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder sustained what appeared to be a shoulder injury just 13 minutes into the first half, forcing him to exit the match prematurely.

Otto Addo will unveil his squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at a press conference in the Conference Room of the Ghana FA, with Amankwah expected to miss out.

The Black Stars will face Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 5 before travelling to take on Niger on September 9.

The AFCON qualifiers are crucial for the Black Stars, who are seeking to secure a spot in the tournament.

It is important to note that the two top countries from each group will secure automatic qualification to the CAF biggest competition on the continent.
