2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers: We must beat Angola in Ghana – Black Stars coach Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has declared that his goal at the moment is to beat Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi next week.

He said nothing else is on his mind aside from preparing the Black Stars to win their first game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach made these remarks during his squad unveiling for the first two AFCON qualifying games against Angola and Niger.

"It's very important that we focus on the next game, and to be honest, I'm not thinking about the World Cup at the moment,” Otto Addo remarked when asked if Ghana can qualify for the World Cup.

“For me, I am just focusing on Angola; we have to beat them. It will be very difficult; they have a strong squad, and it would be a big mistake to think about anything else.

“So I'm really, really sorry, but we have to take one step at a time. We have to qualify for the AFCON first, and this is my aim at the moment.

“For this, we need a good start against Angola, and that’s what I'm thinking about at the moment and nothing else."
