Ghana international Jordan Ayew has explained Leicester City’s thumping win over Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Ayew starred in his first start for the Foxes after switching from Crystal Palace this summer.

The Black Stars forward scored and assisted as his outfit cruised to a 4-0 home win over the lower-tier club to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Speaking after the game, Ayew affirmed it was important for the Foxes to win having gone two games without a win since the commencement of the season.

“I’m really happy. The cloud was good to me so it was important for us to win because we haven’t won since the start of the season. I think we played well, we won and scored goals. The win is good for confidence for Saturday’s big game for us”

The experienced Ghanaian attacker scored a magnificent goal to put Leicester City in front in the thrilling encounter at the King Power Stadium.

Putting on a stellar performance, the host fired home three additional goals in the second half to secure a resounding victory over their opponent.

Stephy Mavididi scored from the spot to double the Foxes lead in the game after 51 minutes before Wilfred Ndidi found the back of the net in the 71st minute to extend their lead.

Leicester City continued their dominance in the game, grabbing their fourth goal through Harry Winks in stoppage time.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian forward will be hoping to excel for Leicester City this season. He has managed one goal and one assists in two games across competitions.
