'We’re interested in all good players' – Otto Addo when asked about Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has left the door open on a possible call-up for Dutch-born Ghanaian goalkeeper, Rome Owusu-Oduro.

The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach said Ghana is interested in every good player that has Ghanaian heritage.

In the last week, reports from the Netherlands say the Ghana Football Association has contacted the AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper over the possibility of handing him a Black Stars call-up.

However, he has not been named in the 23-man squad invited for the first two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

“We are focusing on our next game and one thing you can be sure of, every player who is good and has Ghanaian heritage and could play for the national team, we are interested.

“If somebody has a Ghanaian name and he plays in the top leagues in Europe, this question is for sure.”

Owusu-Oduro has featured in three games for AZ Alkmaar this season and kept two clean sheets.

Ghana will face Angola in Kumasi on Thursday, September 5, 2024 before taking on Niger four days later in Morocco.

Niger does not have a statement approved by CAF to host continental games.
