Ghana U-20 coach Karim Zito over the moon after sealing semi-final berth at WAFU Zone B

The head coach for the Ghana U-20 team, Coach Karim Zito has expressed his joy following his team’s win over Nigeria to qualify to the semi-final stage of the 2020 WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament.

The Black Satellites were in action at the Stade de Gaulles on Wednesday in Benin against the Nigerian counterpart for the first match in Group B at this year’s tournament.

At the end of a fiercely contested game, Ghana managed to win courtesy of a strike from Precious Boah.

With the win sealing semi-final qualification for the Black Satellites, head coach Karim Zito says he is overly excited.

“I am very, very happy for the win because tournaments of this nature, it’s not always about who played good football or who missed chances. Its about who scored. And that is what happened today,” the coach said in a post-match interview as quoted on the GFA website.

Coach Zito added, “At the end of the day, the only chance I had, we utilized it. Just as my colleague (Nigeria Coach, Ladan Bosso Issa) said, the Nigerians had so many chances and wasted it. But we got one and scored and I am very happy that we qualified.”

Up next for Coach Karim Zito and his Satellites, the team will face off with Cote d’Ivoire in the final group match this weekend.
