RSC Anderlecht CEO Jesper Fredberg has explained the rationale behind extending the contract of Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru.

According to him, it was necessary to extend the stay of the Black Stars midfielder because the club continues to have a strong belief in the qualities of the player.

"Before looking externally, we have to assess what type of players we already have in the squad. Majeed was struck by injuries last season, but he’s having a strong pre-season and he’s more focused than ever to take the next step this season," Jesper Fredberg said.

He continued, "We continue to have a firm belief in his qualities and are therefore pleased that he has opted for an extended stay at the club. With his unique profile as a dynamic, fast and always forward-thinking midfielder, he fits our style of play and he can still be of great value to RSCA.”

Despite the challenges he faced last season, Ashimeru's resilience and determination have set a positive tone for the upcoming season.

The club and its supporters are optimistic that Ashimeru will continue to be a key player, bringing pride and success to RSC Anderlecht.
